New Exhibition Celebrates 130 Years of GAA in Phoenix Park

A new exhibition has opened to commemorate the 130th anniversary of the GAA All-Ireland finals being held at Phoenix Park in Dublin. The park grounds hosted the 1893 All-Ireland Senior Football and Hurling Championship finals, a first for Gaelic games.

Representatives from the competing clubs and counties attended the launch of the “Clann of Gaelic Games” exhibition. This partnership between the OPW and the GAA Museum at Croke Park highlights centuries of football, camogie, and hurling in Phoenix Park. 

GAA Director Honors Phoenix Park’s Legacy with Plaque and Oak Tree

GAA Director General Tom Ryan highlighted the park’s pivotal role in Gaelic games history, dating back to before the GAA’s foundation in 1884. To commemorate this legacy, a plaque was unveiled and an oak tree was planted. The event also featured exhibition games by children from local GAA clubs, celebrating the enduring connection between Phoenix Park and Gaelic sports.
