Delaney, originally from County Laois, was reportedly a former nurse living on the streets for several years. She was found unconscious on Aungier Street, outside a grocery. Tributes poured in throughout the day, and in the evening, Vigil saw the crowd sing “Crazy World” by Aslan in her memory. Dozens of red balloons representing her favourite team, Liverpool FC, were released into the night sky.
Those who knew Delaney spoke of her intelligence, caring nature, and strong sense of humour. Chris O’Reilly, spokesperson for the homeless charity Liberty Soup Run, called her a “lovely woman” who “went through hard times.” Delaney, whom Aoife Doherty had been acquainted with for many years, was described as “highly intelligent” and noted for her ability to “bring the community together.”
