Back by Popular Demand: ‘Alone It Stands’

Actress Béibhinn Whelan spilled the beans in an interview about the intense rehearsals for this comedy play. They have been working hard since late September, hitting it three times a week since January to nail it down perfectly.

The play revolves around a massive rugby match from 1978, where Munster beat the All Blacks for the first time in Irish history. It was a huge deal back then, and that’s the backdrop for this riotous comedy.

Whelan talked about how physically demanding the play is, with only six actors playing 62 roles. They are jumping between characters like rugby players, fans, and even naughty kids from Limerick. The cast is embracing the challenge of playing so many different characters, from family members to a lively dog and even the ball itself.

With its humour, nostalgia, and high-energy performances, the play aims to whisk audiences back to that crucial moment in Irish rugby history while giving them a good time.

As the premiere draws near, Whelan’s words give us a peek into the passion and excitement driving the cast as they prepare to put on this hilarious show. However, don’t be surprised if you cry a bit too. Past audiences laughed and cried, so that you can expect a fun rollercoaster! And if you’re looking for something unique and energetic, this is it. The actors say rehearsals were full of so much fun, it’s contagious on stage.

Opens on Valentine’s Day! “Alone It Stands” mixes love, laughs, and rugby history. Rugby fan or not, you’ll love it! You don’t need to fret if you are even Miss Dublin. It is touring Ireland, bringing laughs everywhere.

Mark your calendars and get ready for Iconic Irish plays returning to stage. “Alone It Stands” is back and ready to score with everyone!
