Biden Speech At UN Includes A Warning For “Full Scale War” In Lebanon
Biden speech at UN includes a warning for a “full-scale war” in Lebanon. Today at the UN General Assembly, President Joe Biden gave his farewell speech.
He urged the leaders to look for peace in diplomatic solutions that should ensure the safety of all global citizens. Lebanon and Israel need to find a ceasefire deal, he said.

Biden speech at UN includes a clear statement in which he said, “Full-scale war is not in anyone’s interest”. It was after the world witnessed more than 550 people dead in Lebanon due to Israeli airstrikes yesterday.
Biden was of the view that the political situation at both ends has worsened, but there still is time to discover new diplomatic ways to put an end to the war that seems to be rising fast in the Middle East.
He kept emphasising the mounting political tension in Lebanon by claiming a diplomatic solution as the “only path to lasting security to allow residents from both countries to return to their homes on the border safety”. He stressed that such a solution is the only way out which they should be “working tirelessly to achieve”.
The war in Lebanon is rapidly becoming apparent after months of US attempts to bring Israel and Hamas to lock in a ceasefire deal and stop the bloodshed in the territory of Gaza.
Biden’s farewell speech also called for Qatar and Egypt to sign a ceasefire and a hostage deal. It should be endorsed by the United Nations since it is high time to “finalise its terms”, Biden claimed.
Hostages need to be brought back home to their families and ease the lives of the civilians who have been suffering, from newborns to older people, who are completely innocent, he said.
UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres added that every person should be alarmed since the war in Lebanon is almost “at the brink” of eruption.
President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran called the inaction of the United States against Israel’s horrific war attempts “senseless and incomprehensible”. Iran’s condemnation was severe since the war now seems to be emerging on Lebanon’s borders, which might appear as “another Gaza”, as put in by the UN Secretary General.
He remarked that Lebanon’s people certainly don’t want another catastrophe, just like Gaza and the situation needs to be prevented from becoming a “non-stop nightmare”.
Biden speech at UN includes significance of peace
Biden took advantage of the biggest platform of the United Nations to address the greatest issue at hand, the war in Lebanon, since he clarified that the United States does not support war anywhere in the world.
Despite being Israel’s closest friend, the US rejected an Israeli army ground invasion of Lebanon. A senior spokesperson of the White House said that the US administration is trying to look for “concrete” ideas for alleviating the risks of war.
The predictions about Lebanon and Israel’s progress in defusing the war situation remain unclear as Lebanon is aggressive about its response to Israel, particularly after the pager detonations a few days ago.
Israel’s ambassador who was present at the United Nations Assembly declared the General Assembly’s debate an “annual charade of hypocrisy”.
The ambassador, Danny Danon exclaimed that when the UN Secretary-General talks about the release of Israeli hostages, the rest of the assembly stays silent. On the other hand, when the Secretary speaks about suffering in Gaza, every member present responds with applause.
The International Crisis Group think tank is fearful of the fact that the United Nations might become irrelevant to the world if it is unable to fulfil its prime obligation for which the members were gathered, which is making peace.
