Trump Pledges to Overturn Biden’s Executive Border Order
In a fiery speech in Phoenix, Arizona, former President Donald Trump, the expected Republican nominee for the 2024 election, vowed to impose severe tariffs on countries failing to curb the flow of migrants into the United States. Addressing a supportive audience in the must-win state, Trump emphasised leveraging economic power to address immigration, an issue resonating strongly with voters.

“We have tremendous economic power… if China or some other country is behaving badly, we have things called tariffs that are so severe,” Trump stated, though he did not specify the details of the proposed tariffs.
Debate Heats Up Over Biden’s Executive Border Order
The event marked Trump’s first appearance since his conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to hush money payments. Audience questions predominantly centred on immigration, reflecting voter concerns ahead of the November 5 election.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has taken steps to address immigration by issuing an executive border order to bar migrants entering the US illegally from claiming asylum when daily crossings exceed 2,500. This move, utilising a law previously employed by Trump, faced criticism from all sides. Trump promised to rescind the order if elected, labelling it as “pro-invasion” and pledging to end Biden’s “open borders” policies.
Arizona, which Biden won by a small margin in 2020, continues to be a vital battlefield for both campaigns. Trump will have a rally in Nevada soon as part of his ongoing campaign.
