From the bustling streets of New York to the sun-kissed shores of Sydney, Irish communities worldwide are preparing to immerse themselves in a spirit of celebration. From lively music and colourful parades to traditional dance and plenty of “craic” (good fun), the world will be painted green in honour of Ireland’s patron saint.

For those seeking a spiritual dimension to the festivities, Dublin’s St. Mary’s Pro-Cathedral will be live-streaming their St. Patrick’s Day Mass on March 17th, featuring the world-renowned Palestrina Choir and Mozart’s Mass in C. Similarly, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the seat of the Church of Ireland archdiocese, will also be hosting a live-streamed service on the same date.

Across the Irish Sea, celebrations are also in full swing. Manchester’s Irish Festival starts this week, culminating in a grand parade led by the Lord Mayor and the Irish Consul General on March 10th.

Closer to home, Birmingham’s Irish community is excited for the highly anticipated return of The Irish Post’s St. Patrick’s Birmingham Breakfast, a significant civic reception.

Held on March 15th at the magnificent Council House, the event will be hosted by Lord Mayor Mr. Chaman Lal and graced by the presence of the Irish Ambassador to Great Britain, Martin Fraser.

Elgin Loane, owner of The Irish Post, expresses his delight at reviving this cherished tradition: “It’s not just about celebrating our patron saint, but also recognizing the Irish community’s immense contribution to Birmingham. It’s a chance to showcase our vibrant culture, uniting past, present, and future generations.”
