Key Changes for Ireland vs. Wales
- At the back, Ciaran Frawley gets his first Test start at full-back, partnering Calvin Nash and the ever-dangerous James Lowe. Bundee Aki returns to the midfield alongside Robbie Henshaw, while Jack Crowley and Jamison Gibson-Park man the fly-half and scrum-half positions.
- Pack: Dan Sheehan, Tadhg Furlong, and Andrew Porter remain the front-row trio, while Joe McCarthy and Tadhg Beirne hold the second row. O’Mahony captains the side at flanker, flanked by Josh van der Flier and Caelan Doris.
The bench offers a potent mix of experience and youth. Ronan Kelleher, Cian Healy, and uncapped Oli Jager bring depth to the front row, while James Ryan, Ryan Baird, and Jack Conan add firepower to the pack. Conor Murray and Stuart McCloskey provide valuable experience and versatility in the backs.
Head Coach Andy Farrell explains the rationale behind the changes: “We’ve had a tough couple of weeks, so we’ve made some rotations to give some players a breather and give others a chance to showcase their talents. We’re confident this team can perform strongly against a good Welsh side.”
