Dublin food court hit by multiple closures due to cockroach infestation
In a shocking turn of events, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued closure orders for five businesses situated in a bustling Dublin food court due to a severe cockroach infestation. Among the affected establishments are the Georgian Delight, Sabor Nordestino, Spicy Bite, Smaczne.Go!, and Mroz.

FSAI Urges Vigilance After Cockroach Infestation Triggers Dublin Food Court Shutdowns
The closures come as a response to alarming reports of ongoing cockroach activity and, in the case of Mroz, evidence of heavy rodent presence. Dr. Pamela Byrne, Chief Executive of the FSAI, expressed grave concern over the situation, emphasising the serious health risks posed by such infestations. The closures highlight a pressing need for food businesses to prioritise adequate pest control measures to safeguard public health.
The closures are a part of a wider pattern; in April, there were an astounding 21 closure orders issued, the most in more than four years. Dublin bore the brunt of these closures, with 14 businesses shuttered, while others were spread across Cork, Limerick, Roscommon, Donegal, and Kerry. Among the reasons cited for closure orders were rodent infestations, inadequate pest control procedures, and structural disrepair.
