Coming weeks are important, snow warning persists for Dublin
Ireland is on high alert as a significant snow warning looms, with an expected 5cm of snowfall in the coming weeks. After storms in October and November caused widespread flooding and damage nationwide, the country now braces for winter challenges. Most of Ireland is anticipated to be blanketed by snowfall, with the east coast likely to experience the most significant impact.
Met Eireann predicts the initial snowfall in Northern Ireland on Saturday, November 25, gradually spreading across the island by Tuesday, November 28. We should expect wintry conditions to persist throughout the week and into December. Wicklow, Dublin, and surrounding counties should brace for the most significant snow accumulation, reaching up to 5cm. RSVP Live cautions about the harshest conditions in these areas on Wednesday, November 29, and Thursday, November 30.
Western counties can anticipate relief from frosty conditions starting early on Wednesday, November 29, as the snow shifts eastward. Precipitation is likely to decrease during this period, with the most significant rainfall forecasted for Tuesday, November 28, particularly in the southwest, where up to 15mm may occur. Temperatures will fall in the low single digits, with most places experiencing a frigid 4 or 5 degrees at most. So you should expect the coldest days on Thursday, November 30, and Friday, December 1, with temperatures potentially dropping as low as -4 in the Wicklow region. While the winter winds may send shivers down your spine, there’s a silver lining.
This week, winds will not reach more than 62 km/h, and even the coldest days should be calm. According to WX Charts, wind speeds will gradually drop throughout the week. Also, most areas will see winds of less than 12 km/h winds by Thursday, November 30.
