Defendants Charged with Trespassing and Theft in 2023 Dublin Riots Appear Before Court
The defendants who appeared before Dublin District Court were William Cawley, 51, and Natasha Rice, 38, both of no fixed residence; Josh Tidy, 19, of Pim Street; and Neil Mulvaney, 44, of St Stephen’s Green Hostel. They are charged with trespassing and theft at Footlocker on November 23, 2023.
Gardaí testified about the arrests, charges, and cautions, noting that the accused did not respond when charges were presented at various Dublin garda stations.
All four were granted bail under strict conditions: they must sign in at a garda station thrice weekly, avoid O’Connell Street and Dublin 1, and either reside at their registered addresses or notify gardaí of any changes. Additionally, Ms. Rice and Mr. Cawley may enter Dublin 1 only on Mondays from 9 am to 12 pm to collect social welfare.
The defendants were remanded on bail by Judge Monica Leech, and their next court date is set for October. This case underscores the ongoing legal repercussions from last year’s riots.
