In a world where hunger persists as a heartbreaking reality for many, Deliveroo Ireland’s Full Life campaign is demonstrating the profound impact businesses can have on local communities. Their partnership with Irish charity FoodCloud has blossomed into a beacon of hope, delivering more than 300,000 meals to those facing food insecurity across Ireland.

The heart of this benevolent initiative lies in the synergy between Deliveroo’s Full Life campaign and the altruistic spirit of Irish customers. Through the simple act of rounding up their orders on the Deliveroo app, customers have contributed to a substantial donation pool for FoodCloud. This small but significant gesture, rounding up to the nearest euro, has translated into an astounding 308,732 meals for vulnerable individuals and families in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, and Galway. 

This collaboration has an impact that goes beyond the numbers.

Local charities, including Feed Cork, Empower, and Novas Limerick, have become instrumental in the distribution of these meals to those in need. The charitable arm of Cork Church, Feed Cork, works with local businesses and organisations to give those in need a three-day supply of food. Meanwhile, Empower, based in Dublin, is committed to transforming disadvantaged communities through job opportunities, training, and education.

The impact of Deliveroo Ireland’s Full Life campaign is not limited to the quantity of meals alone. The recent visit by the Deliveroo Ireland and FoodCloud teams to Empower’s headquarters exemplifies this commitment to understanding the local context. By immersing themselves in the work being done by the staff and volunteers, these teams reinforce their dedication to making a real, positive change in the lives of those they aim to serve.

FoodCloud’s Head of Public Engagement, Angela Ruttledge, acknowledged the campaign’s contribution to raising awareness of food insecurity and expressed her delight in working with Deliveroo Ireland. Deliveroo users’ fundraising efforts have become a driving force behind the provision of wholesome meals to those in need.

Deliveroo Ireland’s Regional Director, Helen Maher, expressed her satisfaction at reaching the noteworthy milestone of serving over 308,000 meals. This achievement is not just a number; it represents the collective effort of a community coming together to address a pressing issue. 

FoodCloud, established in 2013, has been a crucial partner in this endeavour. Thanks to the organisation’s dedication to redistributing excess food via its physical hubs and digital platform, over 250 million meals have been served. In order to create a more equitable and sustainable food distribution system, their food hubs in Dublin, Cork, and Galway act as central coordination points for the donation and redistribution of larger volumes of surplus food. 

Through the Foodiverse platform, FoodCloud seamlessly connects surplus food with charities not just in Ireland but across Europe, the UK, Africa, and Southeast Asia. This global reach emphasises the potential for businesses like Deliveroo to make a lasting impact on a worldwide scale, one meal at a time. 

In the tapestry of corporate social responsibility, Deliveroo Ireland’s Full Life campaign and partnership with FoodCloud stand out as a vibrant thread, weaving compassion, awareness, and action into the fabric of community support. As the partnership sets its sights on providing half a million meals by 2024, it serves as a testament to the positive change that can occur when businesses and charities join forces to tackle social issues head-on.
