The Fota Wildlife Park cyberattack in Cork has led to a warning that customers’ financial information may be at risk. The park has advised users to cancel their credit or debit cards if used on its website.

In a notice sent to customers, Fota Wildlife Park highlighted that transactions made between May 12, 2024, and August 27, 2024, could be affected. The park discovered illegal activity on its site and is now investigating to determine what information was accessed.

The park has taken immediate action by removing all user account access and engaging external forensic cybersecurity experts. The investigation aims to understand the breach and implement containment measures.

Customers are advised to review their bank statements and credit card transactions from May 12, 2024, onwards for any suspicious activity. Those using the same passwords elsewhere should update them to enhance security.

Fota has notified the Data Protection Commission (DPC) and is cooperating with An Garda Síochána. Despite the website being offline, the park remains open, with tickets available for purchase on-site. Fota continues to contact affected customers and is working to resolve the issue promptly.
