Assylum Seekers Moved from Grand Canal Encampment to Safer Housing

The departments of Integration and Justice, Waterways Ireland, Dublin City Council, An Garda Síochána (Irish police), and the Health Service Executive collaborated on the operation. Buses were used to transport asylum seekers to new accommodations, which provide essential facilities such as toilets, showers, health services, food, transport access, and 24-hour security.

The asylum seekers are now being housed in tented accommodation at Citywest and Crooksling in County Dublin. This action comes after asylum seekers and their tents were taken down from the International Protection Office’s Mount Street location last week.

Amid the UK’s contentious intention to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda, the Irish government has expressed concerns over the increasing number of asylum seekers leaving the country.
