Ireland biggest drug trafficking gang

The route for Ireland biggest drug trafficking gang, ‘The Family’, which is largely known for trading cocaine and heroin, has been dismantled by Garda. €6m drugs have been seized that weighed more than 100 kg.

The bureau had been after the gang for quite some time since they got information that the West Dublin organised group was trafficking billions of euros of drugs into the country.

The west Dublin-based organised crime group, ‘The Family’ had its own international drug trafficking route and one of its key figures who controlled the transportation network of drugs was captured in the Garda’s operation.

During the operation, Gardai carried out their search on a remote farmhouse in County Wexford last night. They were able to discover 100 kg of cocaine wrapped and concealed in a truck. The cocaine’s worth is estimated to be €6 million.

After the seizing of €6m drugs, four people, all middle-aged men, were arrested on the same farmhouse. A fifth person was also taken into custody after a few follow-up searches in Dublin and Wexford.

A massive amount of cash has been handed over to Garda which they state is a major part of the live operation. The five men are now in detention at Garda station.

When asked about the Garda operation, the Garda Headquarters chose to offer no comments as the operation is still live.

One of the five persons in custody is confirmed to be a key figure responsible for handling the entire transport system of the drug trafficking route on the East Coast. The complete route deploys more than ten people for the said purpose and some refrigerated trucks for keeping the goods. It helps them to traffick cocaine in and out of the country easily.

Moreover, another interesting advancement is revealed that a respectable business has apparently become part of Ireland biggest drug trafficking gang that facilitates the logistics company.

Why is ‘The Family’ Ireland biggest drug trafficking gang?

The biggest Irish drug trafficking organised group is based in west Dublin. Gardai affirmed that the gang has been operational with strong international connections and a prominent Irish trafficker of heroin and cocaine.

With its evident name, the gang is run by family members. Some of them are already convicted and have served several years in prison for drug crimes.

The group has made its way through Ballyfermot, Clondalkin, Ronanstown and Tallaght and is now spreading its wings on national grounds with the help of criminal gangs in Ireland.

Gardai admitted that while their focus was on the Kinahan cartel, ‘The Family’ has quietly grown over the past couple of years and established itself strongly as a prime heroin trafficking gang.

However, the current operation seems to be the final nail in the coffin with the seizure of €6m drugs and the chief member of the gang controlling the route.

A similar operation was conducted last year as a result of which, €3 million drugs were seized from suitcases in the house located in Clondalkin from the same gang. Their boats and planes were confiscated with multimillion euros.

Gardai has successfully taken hold of €30 million of drugs in the first six months of this year from several organised groups in Ireland. Besides, more than 300 guns and hundreds of ammunition were abducted in various operations across the country. Even cash of €4 million was also taken by Gardai with thousands of arrests and charges on the detained criminals.
