Israel Agrees to Resume Gaza Truce Talks From August 15
In a significant diplomatic development, Israel has agreed to resume Gaza truce talks on August 15.This decision follows a week-long pause in November and comes at the urging of US, Qatari, and Egyptian mediators. The move aims to secure a second ceasefire in the ongoing 10-month war, which began after Hamas’s unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7.

Israel to Send Negotiating Team for Gaza Truce Talks and Ceasefire Discussions
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed that Israel will send a negotiating team to either Doha or Cairo to finalise the details of a potential truce. The mediators have proposed a framework agreement, focusing on the implementation of a ceasefire and the release of hostages. However, substantial work remains before a formal agreement can be signed.
Amidst this diplomatic push, tensions remain high. Recent Israeli airstrikes on Gaza schools resulted in over 18 deaths, and Iran has condemned these actions as efforts to exacerbate regional conflict. Iran’s acting foreign minister criticised Israel for its aggressive stance and warned of possible retaliation.
The crisis is still developing, with the possibility of more regional unrest, despite calls for de-escalation from world leaders including French President Macron and US President Biden.v
