Israel Airstrike On Gaza School Results In Death Of More Than 100 People

Israel airstrike

Israel airstrike on a Gaza school took the lives of 100 people who were performing prayer for their dawn timing. Dozens of others were injured from this airstrike, the reports verified.

Gaza school was a shelter for the displaced people who were carrying out their daily life routines within the vicinity. Israel airstrike on 10 August 2024 was a response to the conflict between Israel and the Hamas movement.

Medics have not been able to reach all of the reported bodies but actions are being taken to fulfil the task, Hamas media office confirmed. No immediate information is available from Gaza health officials, the media added.

Israel’s army declared that they had been after Hamas commanders and operatives that they believed were hiding in the said building. In their opinion, the Gaza school was the control centre of these officials which remained their number one target.

The Israeli military explained that it had taken precautions so that the risk of harming the lives of the civilians could be minimised. It continued to clarify that it had included “the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and intelligence information”, even as it refrained from responding to the casualty reports from Gaza School.

According to Israeli reports, the initiation of Gaza killings took place when on 7 October 2023, Hamas and its Islamic fighters attacked 1200 people in Israel. Now, Israel has the aim of wiping out Hamas and its supporters.

Disagreement of Hamas on Israel airstrike

Hamas disregarded Israel’s claims as they asserted that these were only excuses from Israel to attack civilians, schools, hospitals and refugee tents in abundance. Israel thinking of them as a group command centre even after strict surveillance seems useless, a pretext and a lie “just to justify its crimes”, Hamas said.

More than 40,000 Palestinians have died as a result. The reports generated by the Palestinian health ministry did not distinguish between the civilians and combatants.

The majority of the deaths were civilians, the health officials say. Israel has only lost 329 lives and claims that at least one-third of the dead Palestinians were fighters.

The United States, Qatar and Egypt are trying in their best of efforts to have both sides agreed on ceasefire talks. New negotiations are scheduled for Thursday but the fears on both sides have aggravated.

Amidst Israel airstrike, the border conflict is on the rise. UN’s special rapporteur claimed this airstrike as a clear “genocide” on Saturday.

Francesca Albanese, the rapporteur, wrote on the social media platform X, “The largest and most shameful concentration camp of the 21st century. Israel is genociding the Palestinians one neighbourhood at a time, one hospital at a time, one school at a time, one refugee camp at a time, one ‘safe zone’ at a time”.

She was infuriated with Israel’s use of US and European weapons in these attacks that demonstrate their total “indifference of all civilised nations” in relation to the current situation in Gaza. Albanese was sad about what the Palestinians had to go through and asked for their forgiveness as she felt humanity had failed them. They are unable to identify the true meaning of international law with such a situation at hand, she added.

These comments came soon after the bombing on Al-Taba’een school was recorded early Saturday morning. The school is located in the Al-Daraj neighbourhood in eastern Gaza City which showed the count of at least 100 deaths on the spot.

Ismail al-Thawabta, the director general of Gaza’s Government Media Office, appealed to the UN Security Council members and the world community to intervene in the atrocity and put an end to the “bloodbath,” particularly for mothers and innocent children.
