Three Arrested After €6.5 Million Cryptocurrency Seized in Dublin Darknet Crackdown
In a major crackdown on darknet criminal activities, gardaí arrested three individuals after €6.5 million worth of cryptocurrency seized in Dublin. The operation, led by the Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau (GNCCB), targeted illegal material sales and money laundering operations.

On Monday, gardaí conducted a search at a residence in north Co Dublin, leading to the arrest of two men, aged 23 and 49, and a 32-year-old woman. The authorities seized substantial assets, including Bitcoin and Monero, alongside luxury watches valued at €120,000 and high-powered vehicles worth €220,000. The 23-year-old man is suspected under Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act of enhancing the capabilities of a criminal organisation.
Two individuals, one 32 years old and the other 49 years old, are charged with breaking the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act. The two older suspects have been released pending further investigation, with a file being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The younger suspect remains in custody.
