Why the menu at Krewe South Dublin is so special?
Co-owner Conor McCrohan and head chef Niall Smyth worked together to create the menu, which highlights the bright flavours of Cajun Creole cooking. After numerous research trips to New Orleans, the duo crafted a menu that pays homage to the classics while incorporating locally sourced Irish ingredients. From the classic jambalaya to irresistible po’boys, each dish is a testament to the authentic taste of New Orleans.
Co-owner Conor McCrohan stressed the dedication to authenticity in a discussion about the menu, saying, “All of our dishes are NOLA inspired with locally sourced ingredients.” Together with head chef Niall Smyth, we designed a menu that would satisfy Irish diners while staying true to Cajun, creole, and smoked cuisine. Classic dishes like jambalaya, crispy pork belly, gris gris salad, and soft shell crab were among the options.

Krewe invested in three additional pastry cooks and a separate pastry kitchen in order to reproduce the renowned Beignets from Café du Monde and Pecan Pie from The Camellia Grill. Co-founder Belinda Kelly said, “We think our chefs have succeeded, while also perfecting the Irish favourite of the Chocolate fudge Brownie,” to show how excited she was about the project.
The influence of New Orleans street art is evident at Krewe South, with renowned Irish street artist Zurdie contributing a bespoke graffiti wall outside the venue. Inside, large-scale pieces by Irish artist Sumsone add to the eclectic atmosphere. Plans for an evolving art wall featuring works by Irish artists will further enrich the visual experience.
“We are thrilled to introduce Krewe South to Dublin’s dynamic culinary landscape,” co-founder Belinda Kelly said of the group. Our desire to introduce the rich flavours of New Orleans to Dublin is embodied by this sibling venue. This will add yet another dimension of vibrancy to our art wall designs, which are currently taking shape. We can’t wait to design an area where delicious cuisine, beautiful art, and a calming energy come together.
A signature element of Krewe’s identity is its delectable cocktails. Co-owner Michael Monaghan assured patrons that Krewe South Dublin will maintain the high standards set by the original venue, with a bespoke cocktail menu curated by GM Sean Ralston and the talented mixologists. The menu will blend the flavours of the Deep South and Ireland with a combination of original Krewe favourites and New Orleans staples.
