With a pagers explosion in Lebanon, more than 1000 injured including the Hezbollah fighters and a few medics. With the help of these pagers, the fighters used to communicate across several regions of Lebanon, the news was confirmed by the security sources. 

One of the Hezbollah officials declared the pagers detonation as the “biggest security breach” by keeping the condition of anonymity. The group wants to remain discreet in their comments, particularly after being at war with Israel for almost one year.

The media people noticed several ambulances rushing to the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut and a pervasive alarm after a pagers explosion in Lebanon.

The locals explained that they heard explosions 30 minutes after the initial blasts that left more than 1000 injured. Some of the people went hurriedly to check on what had happened at the entrance of the buildings. 

It was later confirmed by the security source that devices kept on exploding in the south of Lebanon.

The wave of detonations lasted for an hour and was launched at around 3:45 pm local time. It is still not comprehended how the devices were detonated.  

Further, Mojtaba Amani who is Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon was also injured by his own pager’s explosion. At present, the ambassador’s condition is reported to be safe and non-life-threatening. 

Footage as proof of pagers explosion in Lebanon  

A regional broadcaster showed footage from inside a grocery store where a small handheld device was kept at the counter. At the same counter, the customer was making payments for his purchase when suddenly the pager exploded. In the same store, a person standing near the fruit stand was also knocked out by the pager’s detonation.

It is already advised to the healthcare workers, who were sent to several regions of southern Lebanon to cope with the massive number of injured people, not to use pagers. The wounded needed urgent care for which, the health ministry sent the medical workers from Lebanon’s crisis operations centre.

The Lebanese Red Cross also announced a team of more than 50 ambulances and 300 staff to be deployed in the areas that needed immediate medical assistance. The medical staff worked diligently to transport the victims to the nearby hospitals and helped some of the rest in evacuation.   

The head of the Nabatieh public hospital revealed that more than 40 people were being treated at the said facility. The wounds were noticed on the face, eyes and limbs, which were declared serious.

Internal Security Services urged the Lebanese citizens to clear the roads after mayhem rose following the explosions. The rescue vans and staff needed to access the areas as soon as possible since several people were bleeding profusely and needed quick medical attention.  

The initiation of war after Hezbollah fired at Israel on 7 October triggered the attacks from both sides. The never-ending fire exchange has been observed since then that has escalated war rages in Gaza as well as Israel.

Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) said, “An unprecedented security incident involving the enemy” is observed that involves several detonations in the handheld pagers. 

According to the latest reports, the pagers were the latest models that were smuggled by Hezbollah fighters into the country recently. 

Hezbollah disclosed that along with several injured across the region, two of their fighters and one girl were killed in the detonations. The Hezbollah group of fighters did not directly accuse Israel of the operation, however, they assured that they are still carrying out an investigation to find out the trigger of the blasts.  

Currently, Israel has refused to comment on the pagers explosion in Lebanon.
