Biden praised Harris, calling her the best hope for preserving American democracy, as she aims to become the first Black and South Asian woman president. His speech, filled with bittersweet moments, was met with extended standing ovations, especially when his daughter Ashley introduced him.

Taking multiple swipes at Trump, Biden promised to be the “best volunteer” for Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. His decision to step aside was driven by concerns over his age and the desire to unite the party behind Harris.

Biden’s address marked the beginning of a convention that’s seen as pivotal for the Democratic Party’s future, with Harris riding a wave of support and enthusiasm into the final stretch of the campaign.
