Chris O’Dowd Returns to the UK

Actor and comedian Chris O’Dowd and his wife, Dawn O’Porter, returns to the UK after over a decade in the United States. The couple, who initially moved to Los Angeles following O’Dowd’s breakout role in Bridesmaids, cited various personal and societal reasons for their move.

O’Dowd Returns to the UK Amidst Family Concerns and Political Turmoil Stateside

O’Dowd, from Roscommon, Ireland, explained the decision: “Our parents are getting old, our kids are starting secondary school, and we always knew we’d come back.” He also mentioned the political climate in the US, stating, “Every election cycle is just an absolute maelstrom of madness,” as a factor in their timing.

Settling in London, O’Dowd and O’Porter are happy to be closer to family. Their sons, Art (9) and Valentine (6), have adapted well and show a surprising passion for theatre. O’Dowd’s face lights up when he talks about his children: “They’re great lads.”

Looking ahead, O’Dowd is excited about his new project, Small Town, Big Story, set in north-west Ireland and due to air on Sky this autumn. As they adjust to life back in the UK, O’Dowd and O’Porter are enjoying the return to their roots and the fresh opportunities it brings.
