The fact that the same teams were paired together in the same qualifying match for the World Cup qualifying group in the previous year is a coincidence. Ireland won with 11-0 in Tallaght and again with 9-0 in Gori.
The team of Georgia ranks 119th in the Fifa world ranking while Ireland is 25th. Slovakia has earned 50th rank. Slovakia would be one of the rivals whom the Republic of Ireland would face at the Europe’s premier competition. It could be Wales otherwise.
After the shining results of semi-finals of Euro 2025, Ireland will advance to a two-legged final playoff. It is anticipated that the game will take place on Friday, 29 November and Tuesday, 3rd December. It would help them earn a spot in Euro 2025 straightaway.
Glee’s Thoughts on the Republic of Ireland’s Win
Glee gleefully reported that the team of the Republic of Ireland had always a target in mind: to qualify for Euro 2025. She confirmed that it was just the beginning. It is only the next step towards their actual target.
She further added that the team needs to improve with each match. They would take a lesson from each of their matches in the qualifying rounds till the semi-finals of Euro 2025. All of their six performances need a review if they “are to compete at the top level of women’s football”. Only then, they would be thoroughly ready for the next stage.
The manager said the Republic of Ireland needs to be respectful towards their rival teams, such as Georgia, as they are equally working hard. Every team has their targets and ambitions for which they take steps accordingly. Ireland already knows their opponent for the next match. They only need to keep moving forward with much more dynamism and enthusiasm.
She assured that preparations are already on the way for the next two-legged tie for the games in October. After the semi-finals of Euro 2025, the team would endeavour to “maximise their performance in both games” and for that, every possible convenience would be provided to the girls.
The team’s manager expressed her delight with each player’s performance and offered them all credit. She even didn’t forget to acknowledge the full support and coordination of the staff members, showing their untiring efforts.
The Republic of Ireland already gained a fillip from their win against France in Cork. It granted them a guaranteed seeded status that they needed for a long time. They are now excited to play in front of the home ground fans again.
Glee reminisced that the atmosphere in Cork was amazingly zealous which gave them an instant confidence boost against France. They are eager to see everyone at Tallaght Stadium, Aviva Stadium, and Pairc Ui Chaoimh supporting them once more.
She thinks that it is always wonderful to give their fans a power-packed game to enjoy for which they cheer their lungs out. It makes the game special for them and the fans become a big part of such an experience.
Although the team of Greens finished at the bottom of the qualifying round of the tournament, the play-offs gave them an uplift for getting promoted to the top-tier League A after the UEFA Nations League campaign.
