Rich Homie Quan’s music career started off with ‘Type of Way’
Quan found his fame with a breakthrough rap song ‘Type of Way’ in 2013. Because of its success, several rappers including Jeezy and Meek Mill attempted to create a remix.
His other hit song ‘Lifestyle’ was later added as a feature song in Birdman with Young Thug in 2014 under the group name ‘Rich Gang’.
In the next year, Rich Homie Quan was known for another hard hit ‘Flex (Ooh Ooh Ooh)’ rising as a massive commercial success. It also rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts in terms of ratings. Nitti Beatz and DJ Spinz collaborated on the production. His dance moves from the song were copied by people around the world.
Quan was able to release his first and only album ‘Rich as in Spirit’ which was not able to gain any featured songs. In 2022, he mentioned his comeback to music after an abrupt hiatus. He was undergoing litigation issues at that time, the rapper confirmed and was sure of his comeback.
The speculations are that the issue might be due to a feud that Quan ended with his old collaborator, Young Thug, with rap artist Gunna. They were accused of being part of a criminal street gang and had to face charges for the violation of the Corrupt Organisations Act.
He stressed that he did not want to stretch the issue with Young Thug and would not like to see him in jail. He said he could talk to Young Thug about matters and that he would be willing to have a conversation if given the chance.
During his career, he was nominated several times for awards like BET and BET Hip Hop for Best New Artist and People’s Champ award.
He had his performance scheduled later this month with Waka Flocka, Boosie, and Nardo Wick. He was scheduled to perform at the final lap tour in Atlanta, Nick Cannon’s Wild N Out Live.
Rich Homie Quan’s family and management are unreachable at the moment from whom further details of his death and comments could be received on Thursday afternoon.
