Robbie Williams excitedly posted about his upcoming gigs,
“This tour is going to be my boldest yet – I can’t wait to see you next year. There will be songs from the movie Better Man, and some new music too…but more on that soon”.
Robbie Williams’ last performance in Ireland
His last performance in Ireland was back in 2022. It was in Dublin’s 3Arena when he was on his XXV tour.
The success of his solo career was celebrated with the tour. The concerts included songs that were clean hits of all of his singing career and some of the new ones as well.
One of his previous performances has even held a Guinness World Record. In a single day, his 2006 world tour sold over 1.6 million tickets.
The concert had 375,000 fans cheering for him while he was performing his brilliance on the stage. It was the legendary three-night gig whose record has never been broken in the United Kingdom.
The fans’ excitement and the film
The fans have been even more excited as they wait for his biopic film, expected to be released on 26 December. With the announcement of the Croke Park concert, they cannot wait to be here in Ireland.
The star would be portrayed with a CGI character. Michael Gracey, renowned for his masterpieces such as The Greatest Showman, is the film’s director.
Robbie Williams‘ real-life experiences would serve as the basis for the movie. His journey would be open for everyone to see, from his childhood and how he became one of the youngest band members, till he gained the pinnacle of stardom by becoming a record-breaking solo artist.
The Better Man announcement
Last week, another announcement came about the release of his song Better Man digitally. It will be released on 27 December after which a physical release is soon to come.
The pre-order of the song will be available online from the official store at 6 pm tomorrow. It would also open early access to tickets for the tour with UK dates and Thursday would be open for European dates.
The beginning of his solo career
His solo career saw a sweeping upward graph when he left one of the well-known boy bands, Take That, in 1995. Around the world, Williams was able to sell 75 million albums.
His solo albums alone were making 40 million sales at that time.
Some of his most famous solo albums include Life Thru a Lens (1997), Sing When You’re Winning (2000) and Escapology (2002). Life Thru a Lens sold over 10 million copies.
Take That!
Robbie Williams joined Take That with his boy band members, Mark Owen, Howard Donald, Gary Barlow and Jason Orange.
He soon got fame by being one of the youngest vocal singers of any boy band in the UK. He was just 16 years old when he joined the band in 1990.
Being the lead vocalist, he earned his name with one of the earliest hits Could it be Magic?
In hot waters?
Williams opened up in a four-part documentary on Netflix that he was on a pathway to self-destruction when he started taking drugs and became an alcoholic. His band members had to tell him to “behave” when they were in rehearsals or had to attend a meeting.
He was once sternly warned that his behaviour was “not how you behave in a boy band,” which caused him to quit the group.
He was urged to behave at meetings, which was apparently causing problems for the other members because of his wild antics.
He himself told his other band members that he could not cope with the band and could not make it to be there anymore. He had to leave.
The Angels singer was there with his group for their sixth album in 2010 but soon left in 2011 afterwards.
