In a significant move, Russian authorities in the Kursk region have ordered the evacuation of the Glushkov district. Acting Governor Alexei Smirnov made the announcement late Wednesday amid escalating tensions and the continued advance of Ukrainian forces into the area.

The Glushkov district, which borders Ukraine and is home to approximately 20,000 residents, will see a coordinated evacuation effort. Smirnov took to Telegram to assure the public that police and other state agencies will oversee the process to ensure a smooth transition.

Ukrainian Forces Make Advances into Kursk Region, Claim Control of Sudzha

This decision comes as Ukrainian forces report advances into the Kursk region. On Wednesday, Ukraine claimed that its troops had moved one to two kilometres into Russian territory since the beginning of the day. Additionally, Ukrainian forces have reportedly completed the clearance of the Russian border town of Sudzha.

Russian officials have announced that nearly 200,000 people are being evacuated from affected areas following the intensification of the conflict. This large-scale evacuation underscores the growing impact of the ongoing military engagements on local populations and regional stability.
