Second Wave Of Hezbollah Pagers Explosion Increases War Risk

Second wave of Hezbollah pagers explosion

A second wave of Hezbollah pagers explosion shoots up the war risk between Lebanon and Israel after the explosions took place on Wednesday. It was just a day after the first explosion took place on Tuesday which was stated as the “biggest security breach” to date.

The health ministry of Lebanon reported that 20 people were killed and more than 450 were found injured in the suburbs of Beirut and the Bekaa Valley in yesterday’s explosions. This took the death toll to 12, including two children and a total of 3,000 injured after the second wave of Hezbollah pagers explosion.

At present, Israel has not commented on any of the incidents. However, there are speculations that Israel’s Mossad spy agency might be involved in the planning of explosions.

These operations are coming as a result of the 11-month war between Israel and Gaza. People are fearing the rising war risk between Israel and Lebanon that could take the shape of a full-blown war.

Yoav Gallant, Israeli Defence Minister announced on an air force base, “We are opening a new phase in the war. It requires courage, determination and perseverance from us.”

Gallant proudly praised the work of its team by saying “The results are very impressive”. The minister still stayed silent on the matter and did not comment any further.

Ayman Safadi, the Foreign Minister of Jordan blames Israel for pushing the Middle East to the edge of helplessness and leaving no option other than war. The arranging of the sequence of events is leading to a dangerous war risk that could prove fatal for the civilians as well, he said.

Previously, the US has been denying any involvement in the pagers blasts incident in Lebanon. However, it now said that it wants to pursue an intensive diplomatic strategy to avoid escalation of war conflict.

One of the US officials told that Israel had informed Washington beforehand that it was going to do something in Lebanon on Tuesday. The official further added that nothing was confirmed and that the incident came as a surprise to the US itself.

The media news person present in Beirut disclosed that after the initial blasts, Hezbollah fighters started taking the batteries out of their walkie-talkies frantically, although they did not explode. They started tossing the parts of their pagers into the metal barrels, the media said.

How the second wave of Hezbollah pagers explosion has instigated public concern for war risk

Even before the second wave of Hezbollah pagers explosion, the fighter group had made use of pagers as a low-tech communication means to escape any possible surveillance by Israel within their networks.

The second wave included blasts at several public places like grocery stores, cafes and fruit or vegetable markets. The bystanders at the cash registers and cars of the Hezbollah fighters who were using those pagers at that time also became the victims of extreme injuries after the blasts.

It was evident that Hezbollah fighters used pagers for their own communication purpose, however, it did not matter who was holding that pager at the time of detonation. Therefore, several casualties involved civilians and those who were just standing nearby.

A great number of people worked for the Hezbollah fighter group which involved doctors, nurses, charity workers, office people and teachers. It meant that the pager explosion injured hundreds of people who had pagers.

Lebanon has also managed to initiate at least one strike after the last round of pager explosions. The country vowed a total of three strikes on northern Israel on Wednesday.

US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken was shocked that the recent pagers blasts would be a hindrance in the efforts to negotiate a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas as it might lead to a greater phase of war between the two.

Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Hezbollah group, is expected to give a major speech on Thursday.
