Lynch and his daughter are missing while his wife was saved after the superyacht capsized off the coast of Sicily.

The yacht anchored from port 700 m away, leaving the coast at dawn yesterday. The problem occurred when it was struck by a water spout which is assumed to be a small tornado.

A water spout is formed when the water comes down from a cloud and takes the form of whirling water waves with wind and pressure of water. It is often visible in severe thunderstorms.

Lynch’s wife was among the 15 people who were rescued from the superyacht search. However, Lynch himself and his daughter are still missing. The head of Sicily’s Civil Protection Agency confirmed the news.

Firefighter divers coming for superyacht search task

The firefighter divers are trained to work in congested spaces and they have been called especially for undertaking the search task. They were flown from Rome to Sardinia last night. The initial search of 50 m below the sea resulted in a failure.

The fire service staff said that the access was restricted only to the bridge. There was extreme difficulty as furniture was hindering the thorough passageway in that direction, said the staff.

The head of Morgan Stanley International, Jonathan Bloomer, is one of the people the search team is still looking for. The Group CEO of Hiscox, Aki Hassan, said, “Our thoughts are with all those affected, in particular our Chair, Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy, who are among the missing”.

Jonathan Bloomer is one of the finest service providers of finances around the world and his business caters to organisations from all over the world. He has been in the finance industry for more than a decade.

Mr Bloomer has been chairing Morgan Stanley International since 2016 due to his extensive experience in board of director positions. The bank’s spokesperson said, “We are deeply shocked and saddened by this tragedy”.

The bank is still hoping the family is retrieved soon while the superyacht search is still ongoing. The terrible situation is still looming over the company as everyone is troubled by the unexpected circumstances, the spokesperson said.

Reports indicate that the 56 m long luxury superyacht took off from Porticello, east of Palermo. The incident happened when violent winds and rains took over the pleasant weather and swept the yacht across the planned directions.

British, American, and Canadian nationals are among the missing.

Ayla Reynold, daughter of Lin Ronald and a British national working at Clifford Chance, is one of the saved people. She was invited to the yacht as a token of thanks for My Lynch’s court case. Ayla was part of their court case team and was invited over to the yacht to celebrate their success party.

Mr Ronald stated that he texted his daughter to know her whereabouts, she did not disclose anything about who was saved but did mention that there were deaths. However, she and her partner are alive and safe, Mr Ronald proclaimed.
