Trump Challenges Harris on Economic Record During Press Conference
In a lengthy 80-minute press conference held at his New Jersey golf club, Republican U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump took aim at his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris. Flanked by grocery items such as Wonder Bread, Oreo cookies, and Folgers coffee, Trump challenges Harris for her role in the economic challenges during President Joe Biden’s administration, specifically targeting inflation.

Trump Challenges Harris on Inflation, Rally-like Press Conference Follows
“Harris has just declared that tackling inflation will be a day one priority for her,” Trump remarked. “But day one for Kamala was 3-1/2 years ago. Where has she been?” Trump’s comments are part of his broader strategy to undermine Harris’s recent surge in popularity since she replaced Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket.
The event, however, quickly devolved into what resembled a Trump rally, with the former president making several familiar claims and personal attacks. He repeatedly insulted Harris, describing her as “not smart” and defended his approach against criticisms from within his own party.
Trump declared, “I think I’m entitled to personal attacks.” On Friday, Harris is expected to speak about economic policies in North Carolina. Despite Trump’s assertions, recent statistics show that food prices have stabilised, with inflation rates comparable to those during his presidency.
In other campaign news, Trump announced new hires including Corey Lewandowski, a former campaign manager, in an effort to bolster his team as the race intensifies. Trump emphasised that these changes were not indicative of a strategy shift but a move to strengthen his campaign’s final push.
