US Fast Food Chain Wendy’s Coming to Ireland with 10 Restaurants and 300 Jobs
US fast food chain Wendy’s coming to Ireland is one of the exciting news for Irish people now. It is exciting for another reason: generating 300 jobs with ten restaurants opening in the country.
Wendy’s is the latest US fast food chain that has entered the Irish market after Five Guys (2016) and Krispy Kreme (2018). It plans to take on local outlets like Supermac’s.
Three years back, Wendy’s announced its expansion in the United Kingdom. It has 50 restaurants opened by the end of this year with a target in mind of having more than 400.
Corrib Oil’s help in Wendy’s coming to Ireland

Apart from the Corrib service station serving to be the food points for Wendy’s, Corrib has also appointed a commercial real estate firm Cushman and Wakefield to select some of the viable locations for the restaurant next year.
The plan even includes a grand recruitment campaign for the new 300 jobs. The campaign will commence in early 2025.
Wendy’s plan for running business in Ireland
Wendy’s ensured that the beef used in its food would be sourced from Irish producers and will be 100 per cent certified. It guaranteed sourcing of the ingredients from all of the local producers, no matter where they are located.
Wendy’s is marked for its made-to-order square hamburgers. Chicken and salad dishes are also some of the prominent ones that its customers have enjoyed over the years.
Its desserts are equally famous, especially the frozen desserts in chocolate and vanilla flavours. Their burgers with sides like baked potatoes and chilli are not to be missed items when you visit their restaurant.
It was the first restaurant that introduced food to be picked up from windows in 1970, still steaming hot. The customers had all the freedom to choose from their favourite toppings.
Wendy’s headquarters is based in Dublin, Ohio. It was opened in 1969 and has 72,000 locations and more than 1,200 are situated outside the United States.
The president of International Wendy’s, EJ Wunsch said that Corrib Oil and Ireland are the best collaboration the company could think of.
He added,
“Ireland is a great market for long-term growth for Wendy’s. With a proven track record of outstanding operations and a significant growth history, we are confident that Corrib Oil is the right partner to drive Wendy’s expansion in Ireland”.
The president elucidated that Ireland would be a great place to run the business since the culture is more customer-centric and creating exceptional customer experience would be an energy-inducing experience for the restaurant as well.
Keeping in mind the previous track record of Wendy’s, Corrib Oil seems to be the right option for the collaboration when it comes to Wendy’s expansion in Ireland.
Wendy’s earned $1.67 billion in revenues until now and a net income of $146.9 million.
The collaboration with Corrib Oil
Corrib Oil was founded in 1987 and has 38 convenience stores at present. It is expected that it will open more stores in 17 different countries in future.

Combining its energy division, it has 18 depots across the region. It has employed more than 1,150 people which is predicted to grow up to 1,450 being part of the first phase of Wendy’s partnership.
The Chief Executive of Corrib Oil, Eugene Dalton, stated that the collaboration between the two brands would be fruitful since both have a commitment to “quality, community and exceptional customer service”.
Mr Dalton was of the view that Wendy’s coming to Ireland would be an extraordinary experience not only for the Irish consumers but the country itself as a globally recognised brand would be offering its new food items for the people.
He further explained that positive results are expected from the partnership since their engagement with Wendy’s leadership has been optimistic. He assured that with Wendy’s, the firm would be able to bring outstanding results for the community since their heritage aligns with that of Corrib Oil and Ireland.
Ireland and American food markets go hand in hand
Ireland has been welcoming several American food chains with both arms for the past few years. From the latest figures revealed by Bord Bia, an Irish Food Board, the food industry in Ireland is booming with €6.1 billion in 2022.
American food chains have been enjoying their share in success in Ireland, the trading relationship is flowing from both sides though. Ireland increased its food exports to the United States by 40 per cent last year. It has accounted for up to €1.75 billion from the exports.
Bord Bia CEO, Jim O’Toole said that the US remains an important market for Irish food and drinks as well as for its exports.
However, recently, there have been concerns arising for Irish beef imports in the US. Burger King has also started selling plant-based beef patties in Ireland. Since Ireland is serious about its climate preservation and sustainability goals, restaurants like Burger King are endeavouring to stick to the sustainability targets of the country.
Plant-based beef patties contribute up to 90 percent less CO2 emissions as compared to their regular beef variety. This initiates a low risk for deforestation and more environment-saving for the country.
