Aer Lingus reported that the Labour Court requested a briefing on the conflict, which has already resulted in the cancellation of at least 244 flights, leaving thousands of passengers in limbo. Pilots will start an indefinite work-to-rule period on Wednesday, followed by an additional eight-hour strike on Saturday, June 29.

From Luxembourg, where he is attending an EU foreign ministers’ meeting, Micheál Martin called for urgent negotiations to minimise the disruption affecting many families. He continued, “This is the one time in the year they get an opportunity to travel for their holidays.”

Aer Lingus and Pilots’ Association Clash Over Negotiation and Terms

IALPA President Capt Mark Tighe criticised Aer Lingus for escalating tensions rather than negotiating, accusing the airline of threatening to cut terms and conditions. Aer Lingus, in turn, stated its willingness to engage in direct discussions and called on IALPA to re-engage with the Labour Court.
