Bayesian yacht captain is currently being investigated for Sicily mishap and manslaughter. Out of 22 people, seven died in a negligent shipwreck which included tech tycoon Mike Lynch and his daughter.

The Italian prosecutors have begun to suspect Bayesian yacht captain, James Cutfield for the disaster. The prosecutors blamed the deaths of seven people on the captain.

During the ongoing probe of the incident, the prosecutor from the town of Termini Imerese in Palermo, Sicily kept interrogating the captain for two hours.

He ordered a second round of investigation based on the answers of the Bayesian yacht captain in his first round, which added to suspicion and needed further details.

The initial round lasted for more than two hours in which prominent issues were investigated, such as the opening of the tender door (the door that separates the engine room from the tender room), the positioning of the movable centreboard, and the specific timings of the minute incidents that took place inside the yacht.

There still remains an uncertainty about the 32-minute delay in the actual sinking time of the vessel and the signal that was to go off to alert the others.

Sicily authorities are also considerate about the communication between the captain and the crew members, their forecasts on the weather and the relevant warnings that should have been generated on time, and the operation mechanism of the doors to let others come out in a timely manner.

Cutfield remained a witness initially, however, soon after the interrogation started, his status now changed to a suspect. Several questions are still in line for the status of the ship and greater concerns are in the limelight after reviewing underwater images of the shipwreck.

It is expected that other crew members of the yacht will be interrogated in the coming days.

Details about Bayesian yacht captain, James Cutfield

James Cutfield was the head crew member on the yacht, who is 51 years old. He was heading the superyacht, 56 metres long, with some of the prominent figures of the country. The shipwreck took place last Monday.

The shipwreck took place apparently from a mini tornado, a waterspout that took hold of the yacht there and then. However, the police are still suspicious about the crew management and boat handling of the crew that led to the yacht’s deadly sinking and numerous deaths.

The autopsies and investigation are still ongoing. Cutfield is not in custody currently but he was ordered not to leave the country until the investigations are being conducted and a closure of the case is not obtained.

Apart from the investigations of the Bayesian yacht captain, autopsies are predicted to continue till Thursday, Palermo Polyclinic said. The autopsies began on Tuesday and would end on Thursday, the clinic staff informed.

As the autopsies are being conducted one by one, two bodies are at the forensic medicine institute within the local university hospital while the remaining five bodies are still at the local Rotoli cemetery.

22 people boarded the Sicily superyacht to celebrate Lynch’s acquittal of a decade-long case for fraud. He was charged with selling his software company Autonomy to the tech firm HP in 2011 for $11 billion, i.e: €9.8 billion.

The jury of San Fransisco found Lynch not guilty of multiple fraud cases and conspiracies filed against him in June.

15 people were lucky enough to escape on lifeboats while the remaining were left behind.

The seven who were left in danger were British tech businessman Mike Lynch, his 18-year-old daughter Hannah Lunch, president of Morgan Stanley International Jonathan Bloomer and his wife along with Lynch’s lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife.
