Tragedy Strikes as 17 Children Die in Kenyan School Blaze
At least 17 students were killed in a horrific Kenyan school blaze that tore through the primary school dormitories at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri County, Kenya. The blaze erupted around midnight, engulfing the sleeping quarters of the young pupils.

The school, which serves approximately 800 students aged between five and twelve, has been left in mourning. Resila Onyango, a spokesman for the national police, claimed that the bodies were severely burned and impossible to identify. The victims were nine years old on average.
In addition to the deaths, sixteen students were admitted with serious injuries to a nearby hospital. Authorities promise a comprehensive investigation, even if the source of the fire is still being looked into.
President Ruto Orders Action After Devastating Kenyan School Blaze
President William Ruto has extended his condolences to the affected families, calling the incident “devastating.” He has directed officials to conduct a comprehensive investigation and ensure accountability.
Located about 170 kilometres north of Nairobi, the school is receiving support from the Kenyan Red Cross. They are helping the families, instructors, and kids affected by this tragedy by offering psychosocial support.
School fires have been a recurring issue in Kenya and East Africa. Previous incidents include a 2016 fire at a girls’ high school in Nairobi, and a 2001 arson attack that killed 67 students at Kyanguli Mixed Secondary School in Machakos.
