DWTS’s Laura Fox – Facing Scrutiny with Grace

As a contractor for RTE, Laura enjoys creative freedom outside her weekend shows. However, her past brush with the Advertising Standards Authority for not disclosing sponsored content on social media serves as a reminder of the watchful eyes that come with a higher profile. “I keep my managers in the know,” she says, acknowledging the need for transparency. “People will always have opinions, and that’s fine.”

Despite the potential for criticism, Laura isn’t fazed. She hopes her genuine personality shines through, emphasising, “I’m not here to hurt anybody. I’m just working away like everybody else.” This week’s samba brings its own set of challenges, but Laura’s anxiety is surprisingly under control. “I feed it with coffee daily,” she jokes before recounting the pre-show jitters she experienced during the first live show. “I put so much strain on myself,” she admits. But now, with less time to overthink, she’s embracing the fast-paced nature of the competition.

Brian Moran, Laura’s companion of nine years, is a regular at every event and is her biggest fan. He’s not threatened by Denys, her dance partner, but rather Laura’s biggest cheerleader. Her grandmother, Nono Fox, is another source of unwavering support. “She’s been up twice already, and she’s coming again this Sunday,” Laura says with a laugh. Nono is an avid fan, dissecting each performance with Laura on Mondays.

Beyond family, Laura has found a kindred spirit in fellow contestant Eileen Dunne. “We just have the craic,” Laura says, appreciating Eileen’s humour and support. “She’s like a chameleon,” Laura adds, admiring Eileen’s ability to transform each week.

With the competition heating up and eliminations underway, Laura remains grounded. Despite being a bookies’ favourite alongside Wild Youth’s David Whelan, she sees Eileen as the dark horse. “We’re at the point where people are going home,” she acknowledges, reflecting on the emotional rollercoaster of the competition. But through it all, she cherishes the camaraderie and the experience. So, tune in tonight at 6.30 pm on RTE One to see DWTS’s Laura Fox on her way through the spotlight, navigating fame, scrutiny, and the thrill of the dance floor with grace and determination.
