The early morning strike claimed the lives of both military personnel and civilians, according to SANA, the official news agency of Syria. Around 1:45 a.m. local time, the attack started in the southeast of Aleppo, according to a Syrian military source that SANA quoted.

When approached for comment by AFP from Jerusalem, the Israeli military declined to offer a statement on the matter.

Israel has been known to conduct numerous airstrikes in Syria since the eruption of the civil war in 2011, primarily targeting Iran-backed forces, including militants associated with Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement and Syrian army positions.

The frequency of such airstrikes has seen an increase following Israel’s conflict with Hamas, a Hezbollah ally, which began on October 7.
