He was declared deceased on 5 September after his girlfriend, Amber Williams, called 911 to mention his foaming mouth at his residence. He was completely unresponsive when the medics arrived and told that he was no more. The cause of his death has not been identified till now.

His real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar who was born on 4 October 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a big baseball fan during his teenage years and was a good player himself. He was selected for the Ronald McNair Sr. High School team and got admission to Fort Valley State University based on his sports scholarship.
Lamar aka Rich Homie Quan wanted to pursue his artistic interests and for that, he joined at the airport for a job. However, luck was not on his side and he lost it soon after. He wanted to have money to enter the music industry, for which he began doing petty thefts.

The album made it to number 32 on the US Billboard 200. It remained a modest success which could be accredited to the inclusion of other rappers like Rick Ross.

Police are still investigating the reason for the rap singer’s death. However, with the apparent signs, it seems to be a drug overdose.
Even days after his death, the autopsy report is still missing as the experts say that it might take a few more weeks to be published.
