New Pilgrim Path completes with the support of several Organisations
The €4 million project, which has the backing of several organisations such as Fáilte Ireland, Údarás na Gaeltachta, and the Department of Rural and Community Development, aims to rejuvenate towns and villages throughout rural Ireland.
Subsequently, the Minister dedicated the newly renovated pilgrim path at Croagh Patrick, which was completed in association with the ‘Croagh Patrick Stakeholders Group’. Hand-built over three years, the project aims to provide sustainable access to the holy mountain while addressing significant erosion issues.
The newly enhanced path runs from the statue of St. Patrick near the base of the mountain to the church at the top, ensuring safe and accessible passage for thousands of pilgrims and visitors each year. The opening of these two projects marks a milestone in the development of tourism and cultural heritage in the region, offering a meaningful experience to all who visit.
