Popeyes to Open First Belfast Outlet as US Fried Chicken Chain Grows
Popeyes, the fast food, and fried chicken company originating from New Orleans has revealed a major development in the company’s growth strategies. Specifically, on Friday, September 20, Popeyes is going to open the first restaurant on the island of Ireland, which is rather important in its development plan.
The first pilot store will be set up in Lesley Forestside Shopping Centre, Belfast, an appropriate strategic spot to try and attract a wide – cross section of consumers.
Popeyes’ decision to launch a new store at Lesley Forestside Shopping Centre demonstrates the company’s aggressive market strategy in Ireland. There is nothing as engaging as the shopping centre which has a busy environment and a wide customer base ideal for the brand’s initial launch.

The main target groups of the centre are families, students and young professionals, which by incorporating Popeyes new products format will create a perfect base for taking the brand to a new level.
Tom Crowley, the Popeyes UK’s Chief Executive Officer noted the importance of the opening in the overall development plans of this firm. “I believe that starting with the Belfast opening is our true beginning of the investment into the island of Ireland” Crowley said. “We will carry the feeling of New Orleans to the opening and are eagerly waiting to host new fans as well as those who have been hooked on to us.
Popeyes launched in the UK in November this year and we can state that there’s a great interest in it. It has since managed to establish the brand in the UK with more than 50 restaurants all providing its specialties such as fried chicken and unique seasonings that cut across its global outlets.
The expansion to the UK has been an exciting and strong representation of Popeyes brand that strives hard to maintain the standards for their customers in new markets.

This is the first store of Popeyes to further expand across Ireland, as it plans more branches across Northern Ireland and the rest of the country. The selection of Lesley Forestside Shopping Centre can be attributed to the brand’s succession of focusing on hot spots that receive large traffic in urban areas.
Popeyes’ focus on true-to-its-soul’s New Orleans cuisine—a zesty fried chicken, warm butter biscuits, and delicious fix-ins—will be brought to life at the new restaurant, where residents and visitors can have an unparalleled dining experience. The grand opening is expected to attract many consumers locally, and can be cascaded under the theme of new market entry of international brands
