Reflecting on the worst moment of his life, Norton recounted the morning after the stabbing when a nurse inquired about contacting his parents. In that crucial moment, he confronted the uncertainty of his fate and remembered urging the nurse not to pause, emphasising the seriousness of the situation. Norton acknowledged the gravity of the experience but highlighted how it ultimately altered the trajectory of his life for the better.

In his mid to late 20s at the time, Norton revealed that the incident occurred during the casting for third-year shows at drama school.
