What Creeslough’s Renewal Plan Entails?

The plan, a result of extensive consultations led by Donegal County Council and local groups, aims to revitalize Creeslough. It tackles issues like neglected buildings, accessibility concerns and even incorporates eco-friendly initiatives.

But the heart of the plan lies in the proposed new community center. This multi-purpose facility will offer a space for residents to gather, play sports, and access vital services like co-working spaces and counseling rooms.

Liam Ward, who spearheaded the Creeslough urban renewal project, said the desire for a central meeting point emerged as a key theme during consultations. He believes this center will be crucial in Creeslough’s healing process.

Creeslough's Renewal Plan includes a community centre

Local priest, Fr John Joe Duffy echoed this sentiment. He called the center a “beating heart” for the community, a place where residents, across generations, can come together to rebuild their lives.

The good news? The center already has planning permission and sits on land owned by the community. Now, all eyes are on securing government funding to make this beacon of hope a reality.
