For those who prefer the thrill of spontaneity, don’t fret. The daytime events on New Year’s Day at Meeting House Square and Dublin Castle are not only fantastic but also free of charge. No need to worry about tickets; simply show up and immerse yourself in the festivities.

Pierce’s Block Rockin Beats: Saturday, December 30:

Where: National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks, Stoneybatter, Dublin 7 (Starting from 6 pm)

What: Headlined by Dec Pierce’s Block Rockin Beats, this three-stage music spectacle will feature special guests including Chasing Abbey, Ryan Mack, Jen Payne, HamsandwicH, and more. Note that this is an over-18s-only event, with tickets starting at €29.90 (including the booking fee).

Midnight Moment Matinee: Sunday, December 31

Where: Dublin Castle, Dame St, Dublin 2 (4 pm to 6 pm)

What: A family-friendly New Year’s countdown at Dublin Castle on New Year’s Eve featuring performances by rising Irish musicians Moncrieff, Lea Heart, Lucy Gaffney, and more. Family tickets are available for €22.90, with individual tickets priced at €7.90. Maximum 4 people with a minimum of 1 parent/guardian.

New Year’s Day at Dublin Castle: Monday, January 1 

Where: Dublin Castle, Dame St, Dublin 2 (1 pm to 5 pm)

What: Join Jerry Fish, Dublin Gospel Choir, Code Of Behaviour, and The New Brass Kings in the picturesque grounds of Dublin Castle for a free, unticketed event. Just drop in anytime between 1 pm and 5 pm.

New Year’s Day at Meeting House Square: Monday, January 1

Where: Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin city centre (2 pm to 6 pm)

What: Another free event awaits at Meeting House Square with performances from some of Ireland’s best traditional and folk musicians. From 2 pm to 6 pm, enjoy the sounds of Rónán Ó Snodaigh, Myles O’Reilly, Dani Larkin, Niamh Bury, and Sola.
