The group, including British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, was celebrating Lynch’s acquittal of fraud charges when a violent storm struck. The fatalities may have perished as their staterooms filled with carbon dioxide while the yacht sank rapidly because divers investigating the scene discovered no water in their lungs.
The fact that the bodies were found on the left side of their cabins suggests that they might have been looking for the final pockets of air. The investigation has revealed no signs of external injuries on the deceased.
Survivours of the Superyacht Tragedy
Survivours include Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, and 14 others. The remaining post-mortems on Lynch, his daughter Hannah, and the yacht’s chef, Recaldo Thomas, are scheduled.
The investigation continues, with Italian prosecutors looking into possible manslaughter charges against the yacht’s captain and two British crew members. They face scrutiny over alleged negligence, including claims of open external doors allowing water to flood the engine room.
