Israeli officials have indicated that while Israel aims to strike back against Hezbollah following a deadly rocket attack, they seek to avoid a full-scale war in Lebanon. Twelve children and teenagers were killed in the attack, which took place on Saturday in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Israel has attributed the strike to Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed Lebanese group, though Hezbollah has denied involvement.

Israel Prepares for Limited Response Amid U.S. Push to Avoid Full-Scale War in Lebanon

In response, Israel is reportedly preparing for a brief period of fighting rather than a prolonged war. Despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s assertion of a “harsh” response, Israeli officials are wary of escalating the conflict further. The U.S. is actively working to prevent Israel from targeting key infrastructure and densely populated areas in Lebanon, urging restraint to avoid broader violence.

The situation remains tense with recent developments including an Israeli drone strike in south Lebanon that resulted in several fatalities, including an infant. As both sides navigate heightened hostilities, the international community, including the U.N. and the U.S., is pushing for diplomatic solutions to prevent further escalation. Flights to Beirut have been disrupted as regional tensions continue to rise, underscoring the fragile state of the current conflict.
