MET Eireann Forecasted Heavy Rain And Possible Floods After Hurricane Ernesto In Ireland
A reporter from MET Eireann forecasted heavy rains and risk of flooding after Hurricane Ernesto across Ireland. The weather warnings are under review since the weather has been changing this evening, said the reporter.
The country might see heavy rains in several areas tonight with a risk of spot flooding.

MET Eireann has its own measurements to forecast the weather in which the yellow measure shows warnings that are yet to be reviewed. MET Eireann meteorologist Liz Walsh confirmed that the yellow warnings are to be reviewed for the heavy rain prediction in Ireland post-Hurricane Ernesto.
Liz Walsh said, “Associated yellow rain warnings are under review this morning so stay tuned to the forecast today for any updates for your area”.
She added that a high risk of coastal flooding exists this Friday since the current “high tide advisory” is in place for accurate predictions.
She further clarified that the weather would remain windy and a bit “autumnal” after the windy night in Ireland. South and east parts of Ireland would also witness the same dry and windy night tonight, she remarked.
MET Eireann’s predictions for the Atlantic jet stream
The reporter indicated that a strong jet stream is coming from the Atlantic Ocean at present which is creating a low pressure system. This system would direct its way to Ireland with wet and windy forecasts of the rain and Irish weather.
For the general public, the reporters explained that they should expect drizzle and heavy rain with a mix of clouds in certain areas of Ireland. It could be sunny in the afternoon, despite the strong Hurricane Ernest aftermath.
The rain falling on west and southwest parts of Ireland would now take form with heavier pace elsewhere, Walsh said.
The residual rain the previous night would shower with a quick drizzle eastwards in the early hours of this morning, she declared. The isolated showers might appear with a mix of clouds and sun during several instants of the day, Walsh stated.
The journalist explained the possible temperatures for the day. She said that the highest temperature to expect is between 15°C and 18°C for moderate west to southwest winds.
The strong winds tonight might take the shape of gale force winds with a serious spot flooding hazard, Walsh further added. She said that the gale winds might steer west to northwest and then decrease with medium strength.
People can expect the weather to clear slightly during the night when the wind and rain would form north-eastwards and further to the north, bringing the temperature down to 9°C to 12°C, Walsh confirmed.
Tomorrow, the weather could be sunny and later in the data, some showers could become heavier afterwards, MET Eireann described.
An outlook for the weekend is also generated by the department where the showers would have moved to the west by then. Moderate to fresh winds heading southwest would also be present in the afternoon, keeping the temperatures between 14°C and 18°C.
The forecaster had other predictions for the late August days where the temperature would further drop below to 3°C with “cool and breezy” weekends. Later on, “It’s going to remain fairly cool and breezy this weekend, there’ll be drier and sunnier periods”, Walsh exclaimed.
